About
The Fool for All Your Needs
I am a fool. And let me tell you why.
Wind the clocks back a number of years. Our scene opens with our protagonist (that’s me) sitting at his computer, unfulfilled, working a desk job in mortgage. He’s sitting in a meeting that was sprung up on him the day after half his team was laid off. Not a good start.
The CEO of the company is there. Blood pressure escalates. But Daniel isn’t fired in this meeting. Instead it’s a lighthearted meeting and everyone has a good time. When our protagonist unmutes to talk, the CEO jokes,
“You shouldn’t be in mortgage. You should be in voiceover.”
This irks our protagonist.
Why, why would this person who calls the shots here just say that, when he could theoretically put our protagonist on the path to recording eLearnings for the company or something? Our protagonist yearns for someone to hand him the keys to voiceover.
Then it clicks. As with all things in life, it’s not going to be handed to you.
In that moment, Daniel smiles and thinks, “You know what? I will.”
That is the moment where Daniel Caouette chooses to take the reins and change his own life. Roll credits (but stick around; there’s definitely a teaser at the end for part 2).
Why did he do that?
Because Daniel was never going to be happy knowing his tombstone would read “mid-level manager”. He always felt trapped on a life path that ran parallel to his desires- he could see the path he wanted, but it never intersected with the one he was on. But in that moment, that fire his CEO lit, was what Daniel needed to make the jump on his own.
No, I’m not the “golden voice” that someone picks out of the crowd. I’m an actor who takes on roles like trying on suits- I learn how they were tailored, why they’re made that way, then find things no one noticed- like a secret pocket inside near the shoulder. That discovery of each and every role is the fulfillment I’ve been searching for my whole life.
So yes, I am a fool. I walked away from a stable 9 to 5 in search of happiness, and I’m pretty damn good at what I do for one reason:
When passion leads, success follows.
If you’re looking for someone who’s going to invest in your project as much as you have. If you’re looking for someone who’s going to give you more than just the usual “conversational” or “grounded” or “non-announcer, guy-next-door” read. If you’re looking for someone who will partner with you, take ownership of the voice acting, and knows his tools like the back of his hand. Daniel Caouette is the voice actor for you.
You’re passionate about your project. I will be too.
